Join a Bible Study The faith experiences of the women joining this group are diverse. We come from a variety of backgrounds and experiences, and have much to share with each other — a gift that we give to each other. We learn from each other. Please enter this space with an open heart and a gentle tongue. You will likely not agree with everything you hear, but that does not mean it does not have validity for someone else's life. Our purpose here is not to convert others to our way of thinking, but to listen to what God has to say to each of us; to share our insights and questions. If you enjoy reading the Bible as history, as literature, or as the word of God, you will enjoy this group. Whatever your perspective, you will learn more from the others here.

Quilting the Psalms Study Group
Quilting the Psalms is a 32-week quilt and scripture reflections project, the current group will begin on October 4, 2009 and will end in August 2010. This group is open to individuals who are interested in combining quilting and Bible study. You may join the group at any time, you don't need to wait for a new group to begin.

This study is based on Psalms selected by the devotional book: A Thirty-Day Walk with God in the Psalms by Nancy Leigh DeMoss. This will be our guide as we turn 30 days into 32 weeks, giving us time each week to make a quilt block, or quilted journal pages, or to just soak up the deep emotions and blessins of the Psalms.

The Psalms are all around us, in song and art and verse! This is the most popular book in the Bible, which is not surprising considering its verses are full of joy, song, sadness, hope and turmoil. Hmmm, sounds like our lives, don't you think!   I hope this closer look at the Psalms will draw you closer to our Creator — whose handiwork is so vividly described throughout this book.

With each selected Psalm, you have the option of making an original appliqué quilt block or a traditional pieced block pattern. Each block relates to the Psalm being studied. But perhaps you'd like to design your own blocks, or find another block to represent that Psalm. There is freedom in this project to allow the Psalms to speak to you and to make the journey your own. To provide a bit more flexibility in the timing of the study, I've built into the schedule a "study-free" week each month - time to reflect on the previous Psalms, to catch up on the quilt blocks, and time to share your own favorite Psalms with the group.
